A good
performance and long-lasting quality of a carpet depends on the fibre
used in its production. Antron that has been offering the highest
quality for 30 years in carpet fibre production ensures superior appearence
retention for the carpet due to its high performance nylon fibre.
While a number of factors
generally influence commercial carpet performance, the type of fibre
used in the carpet is the single most important element. After 30
years, Antron® nylon remains the performance leader by demonstrated
superiority in:
- Resistance to dry soil and liquid stains
- Pile height retention
- Resistance to matting, crushing and abrasive wear.
This adds up to superior
appearance retention for the life of your commercial installation
- a claim not every fibre, or even every nylon fibre, can make, especially
with the demands of a typical commercial environment.
The superior performance of Antron® is based on four major elements:
1. Superior Polymer Substrate - Type 6,6 Nylon
2. Exclusive Fibre Engineering
3. Advanced Soil Resistance Technology - DuPont Teflon®
4. Invista Performance Standards Program
1. Superior Polymer Substrate
- Type 6,6 Nylon
Key Benefits: Superior resistance to liquid stains outstanding pile
height retention; unsurpassed resistance to matting, crushing and
abrasive wear.
DuPont invented nylon and chose type 6,6 because of its superior characteristics
based on three key properties:
- Structure
- Hardness
- Resilience
Type 6,6 nylon has a tighter molecular structure than type 6 nylon
due to a higher level of hydrogen bonding and maximum alignment between
molecular chains. Type 6 nylon does not have this level of internal
bonding, resulting in a more open structure. In addition, type 6,6
nylon has unsurpassed resilience properties. When subjected to 24
hours of compression at 100,000 psi, type 6,6 nylon demonstrates up
to 100% recovery.
2. Exclusive Fibre Engineering
Key Benefits: The lowest soiling propensity of any fibre, and improved
long-term carpet appearance.
Invista's specially engineered square four hole hollow filament, and
six hole convex triangular hollow filament shapes add to the superior
characteristics of the type 6,6 polymer.
Used in bulked continuous filament (BCF) products, the hollow filament
fibre shape has a smooth exterior surface, with no crevices to trap
soil. In addition, its four internal voids refract and diffuse light
to hide soil.
3. Advanced Soil Resistance
Technology - DuPont Teflon®
Key Benefits: Long-term appearance retention, lower maintenance costs.
Teflon® patented soil-resistant treatment is the most durable fluorochemical/soil
release product available today. Available on carpet of Antron®, it
works like the Teflon® treatment on frying pans, making it difficult
for dirt to stick to the fibre surface. Only Teflon® is durable enough
to withstand the heavy traffic and cleaning to which commercial carpet
is subjected. In fact, testing has shown that Teflon® is effective
much longer than competitive topical treatments. As a result, the
cost of cleaning for carpets treated with Teflon® is lower than cleaning
costs for untreated carpet.
4. Invista Performance
Standards Program
Key Benefit: Quality assurance.
All styles of Antron® Excel (known as Antron® Legacy in North America)
and Antron® Excel SC (known as Antron Lumena® in North America) have
passed Invista performance tests. Because both Antron® Excel and Antron®
Excel SC are Antron® nylon, you have the assurance of unsurpassed
resistance to staining, soiling, crushing and texture loss.
